Super Celebration West : Buena Vista, Co. 9/7-9/10

Mark

Field Technician
We’re all set to go. Who else is looking at this one? This will be our first trip through Co. so spending a few days at a Bronco event works out great for us. We’ll be boondocking it at the show grounds Tue-Sun.

You'll love it! I had a great time there at the inaugural one 2 years ago when we had a giant, unseasonal snow storm. Colorado is so beautiful and the 'wheeling is great!

We're planning on going again. We'll see what happens with diesel prices.

This will be my first time to this event. Bringing the Bukin'eer. I booked a cabin in town. Should be walking distance to a saloon 😁 I'm taking a couple of days to get there via the southern route (I-40) and hanging a left at Flagstaff. I'll be there Wed afternoon to Sunday. Maybe caravan back with some SCBers.

Taking a quick look at the map to see how far away this is, I realized that the question has finally been answered as to where you would actually be if you "turned left at Albuquerque". Super Cel West. 😁

That's my preferred route in the motorhome. Up through Santa Fe and over Poncha Pass to Buena Vista has the gentlest slopes. I-70 then down through Leadville is slightly shorter but the pulls are harder, both in Utah and Colorado. If you "take a left at Flagstaff" like Randy said, that yields quite a few possibilities, most of them over taller and steeper passes. Probably the easiest of those would be going through Pagosa Springs then over Wolf Creek Pass, which is a bit easier these days than it was when C.W. McCall sang about it. I've done that one in the motorhome too. If you're not towing, the higher passes and windier roads are more fun and tend to be a lot more scenic. Go up through Gunnison then take either Monarch Pass or Cottonwood Pass.
